The High Court in Blantyre is today expected to hear an application seeking to restrict the call to prayer (adhan) at Kachanga Mosque in Chileka.

Kalibu Academy, through its representative Asko Pesola, has asked the court to issue an injunction restraining the mosque located in Ndala Village from broadcasting the adhan loudly.

According to the school, the sound from the mosque’s call to prayer is disrupting lessons and interfering with worship activities of other religious groups within the area.

Justice Mike Tembo is expected to preside over the hearing.
