Universal Credit recipients are set to receive a significant £725 increase following a change in legislation.
The DWP benefit, claimed by 7.5 million people in the UK including those topping up their income whilst working, is the most common benefit after the state pension .
While all benefits rise annually in line with inflation, an additional 2.3% uplift on top of inflation will be added to Universal Credit in 2026 due to a legislative change this year, the Universal Credit Act 2025. This act stipulates that the benefit will increase more than inflation each year until 2030 .
