EVANSVILLE – The victims arrived about two hours before the scheduled disaster.
There were around 200 of them, and they packed into the Vanderburgh 4-H Center just after 6 a.m. so other volunteers could paint their skin with horrific, fake wounds. From there, a METS bus ferried them to the state hospital grounds. Their only job was to kill time and wait for the simulated nightmare to begin.
