A 15-year-old schoolboy tragically died while travelling on a bus to a course at Fife College. The pupil, from Beath High School in Cowdenbeath, fell ill in Dunfermline on Monday, 24th November 2025. Emergency services were called to the scene at Halbeath roundabout around 1.45pm, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the location. The school community is in mourning, with Headteacher Stephen Ross expressing deep sorrow in a letter to parents. He stated that the situation had “deteriorated rapidly” and confirmed that support would be available for students affected by the incident. Ross urged parents to monitor their children's social media activity in the coming days, highlighting the importance of emotional support during this difficult time. He said, "We are all devastated by this news, and our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones at this sensitive and difficult time. We are looking after our young people and arranging support across the school community, providing space, time and help to those who need it." Police Scotland confirmed that the death is being treated as unexplained, and investigations are ongoing. A spokesperson stated that the teenager's next of kin have been informed. The school has committed to coming together to pay tribute and remember the young person, as the community grapples with this unexpected loss.
