A 43-year-old Wisconsin man helped convicted attempted murderer Morgan Geyser escape from a group home and flee to Illinois, where both were arrested Sunday night behind a gas station, according to the Posen Police Department.
Chad M. Mecca of Janesville, Wisconsin, was found sleeping alongside Geyser, 23, behind a Thorntons gas station around 8:54 p.m. Sunday during a welfare check, police said.

Mecca told police he met Geyser "a couple months ago through Good Shepherd Church" and became upset with how she was treated at her Wisconsin group home, according to the complaint. He said the facility denied him visitation rights with Geyser.
