COLUMBUS, Ind. – From coral reefs to fossil beds, Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation STEM students from Columbus East High School recently explored science in action, experiencing real-world Stem learning at its best.
Mr. Walls’ Ocean Science students were immersed in hands-on marine research at MarineLab in Key Largo; kayaking mangrove tunnels, snorkeling coral reefs and seagrass beds, studying marine species, and even designing a lab on Upside-Down Jellyfish development.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chastain’s Paleontology class traveled to the Falls of the Ohio, one of the only places on Earth where students can walk directly on 390-million-year-old Devonian fossils. One student even discovered a specimen rare enough to be added to the site’s official collection.
