Police in Nkhata Bay have arrested two men in connection with the theft of household property valued at K12 million.

Deputy Public Relations Officer for Nkhata Bay Police Station, Devoter Mithi, confirmed the arrests of Charles Phiri, 34, and Steve Nkhata, 25, following complaints lodged by Justina Banda and Collings Longwe, whose homes were broken into by unknown criminals.

According to Mithi, detectives from the Chintheche Police Unit launched an intelligence-led investigation that led to the apprehension of the suspects and the recovery of part of the stolen property.

Recovered items include a 72-inch Hisense plasma television, a food warmer, and a tin of rice. Police say investigations are continuing to trace the remaining items and bring any additional suspects to justice.
