State insurance regulators fined Anthem Health Plans of New Hampshire Inc. $520,000 for “hundreds of violations” of state and federal requirements regarding credentialing of providers, mental health parity compliance and responsiveness to the state’s inquiry.
The findings were the result of the agency’s review of the operations of Anthem, a wholly-owned Matthew Thornton Health Plan, from $250K suspended two years and removed if Anthem makes corrective changes. Jan. 1, 2022, through Nov. 30, 2023.
Insurance Commissioner D.J. Bettencourt said Anthem did not sufficiently monitor the performance of third-party entities that credentialed providers for the insurance firm.
