CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia issued a certificate Monday to permit a solar power project in Kanawha County.

Mammoth Solar, LLC filed an application on June 30 and asked for a waiver of a hearing on the project. The Commission staff agreed with the application.

The 90-megawatt solar generating facility would consist of approximately 193,000 individual solar photovoltaic modules and would interconnect with an existing Appalachian Power Kanawha River to Carbondale transmission line that crosses the site. It would be located on 1,148 acres of reclaimed surface mine and the project’s facilities would occupy approximately 446 acres.
