CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Public Service Commission has approved a certificate for Mammoth Solar, LLC to construct and operate a 90-megawatt solar power facility in Kanawha County.

The PSC concluded that the project is not contrary to the public interest, primarily due to its projected positive economic impact.

The approval allows the construction of a solar project consisting of approximately 193,000 solar photovoltaic modules, along with associated electrical collection cables and a substation. The project is designed to operate as an exempt wholesale generator and will interconnect with an existing Appalachian Power 138 kV transmission line that crosses the site.
