PORT ARTHUR, Texas — A Jefferson County prosecutor says there is not enough evidence to move forward with a case against a Port Arthur man who has spent months under house arrest while awaiting a trial in connection to the murder of Donesha Buckner.
Luke Nichols with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office told 12News anchor Mark Armstrong that charges against the defendant, identified as Nerbert Frelow , are being dropped because “there’s not enough evidence to continue to charge” him.
Nichols said Frelow was initially held in jail before bonding out and being placed on house arrest for several months, after surrendering at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility on the evening of March 19, 2025, after a warrant was issued.
