NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is asking reputable 501(c)(3) rescue organizations to step forward to help care for and relocate dogs recovered during “Operation Pitbull,” a law enforcement raid on a rural dog fighting ring that led to 45 arrests and the discovery of 16 abused animals, including two that required immediate medical care.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support, compassion, and shares following our Operation Pitbull rescue effort,” the Newton County Sheriff’s Office said. “Once again, we are turning to the broader animal-welfare community to help ensure these dogs find the safety and care they desperately need.”
