Maya Kowalski and her family are asking an appellate court to rehear their case after a three-judge panel reversed the entire verdict in the "Take Care of Maya" case against a St. Petersburg-based children's hospital.
The family's motion comes after the Second District Court of Appeals reversed the entire verdict in October, including the $208 million in compensatory and punitive damages , and cleared a path for a new trial on a limited number of claims, including Maya Kowalski’s intentional-infliction-of-emotional-distress (IIED) claim, and the remaining false imprisonment, battery and medical-negligence claims.
