NORFOLK, Va. — A new Mobile Healthcare Lab parked outside of the Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch Library is bringing hands-on medical training directly into Norfolk neighborhoods, aiming to remove barriers that keep many adults from starting or completing workforce programs.
The initiative, launched by Tidewater Community College's Workforce Solutions in partnership with Norfolk Works , is designed to help fill a persistent shortage in the region's health care workforce-- while giving residents a path to stable, in-demand jobs.
The custom-built lab opened this summer as part of the CARENOW project. Inside, the vehicle is a fully outfitted clinical classroom that mirrors the setup of a small medical clinic. The goal is to eliminate the biggest obstacles students report.
