The new owner of an historic hall, thought to be Manchester's oldest surviving building, has been named. The Grade-I listed Baguley Hall in Wythenshawe , which dates back to the late 13th century, was put up for sale last year sparking fears its heritage would be lost .
Historic England, which currently owns the building, has today (November 25) announced that the Heritage Trust North West has been selected to take on the ownership of the medieval timber-framed hall said to be one of the 'most important' in Europe. The Trust will now seek to work with local communities to develop its proposals for the future use of the Hall, including plans for public access.
It comes after a group of amateur historians came together last year in a bid to save Baguley Hall. The Friends
