More than 100 homes were damaged after a tornado touched down in the Houston area.

More than a hundred homes around the Houston area were damaged after a tornado touched down on Monday, Nov. 24, days before the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to the National Weather Service's Houston office, one confirmed tornado went through parts of Harris County, which includes Houston, on the afternoon of Nov. 24. Its intensity has not yet been rated.

A second unconfirmed tornado over parts of the Austin and Waller counties on the same day is also being investigated. Survey teams are heading to both sites on Nov. 25, NWS said.

Based on early reports, more than 100 homes in Harris County's Memorial Northwest neighborhoods were damaged in the event, Mark Herman, constable of Harris County Precinct 4, said in a statement on Nov. 24.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said in a social media statement that there have been no reported injuries from the tornado.

"So far, confirmed damage includes rooftop damages to residential structures, several collapses of commercial structures, and multiple trees down across the area," the statement said.

In drone footage shared by Herman's office, homes around the Memorial Northwest neighborhoods can be seen with significant damage sustained from the tornado.

Debris were scattered across yards, power lines were downed and the roofs of some homes were torn off in the storm, the video shows.

As of the afternoon on Nov. 24, first responders were continuing rescue and recovery operations. The drone footage was being used to identify inaccessible or hazardous debris areas, Herman's office said.

"Our teams are fully engaged in rescue operations and damage assessment," Herman said. "This drone footage allows us to direct resources where they are needed most and continue protecting the community during this critical time."
