A 33-year-old man from Akwesasne is facing 14 charges stemming from several police investigations.
Police alleged the man removed merchandise from several businesses on Second Street East on Oct. 25, Oct. 27, and Nov. 9, and that he assaulted a loss-prevention officer before fleeing the scene during the most-recent event. Police also alleged the man used a credit card on Oct. 27 that had been reported stolen, and was in possession of property obtained by crime. Police were contacted by a loss-prevention officer at a Ninth Street West business on Monday who’d located the suspect, and he was taken into police custody following a brief pursuit.
