Republicans remain divided over President Donald Trump’s proposal to send $2,000 tariff “dividend” checks to millions of Americans.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) on Monday said he was skeptical of Trump’s plan, arguing that the U.S. “can’t afford it” during an interview with FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo on “ Mornings with Maria .”
Meanwhile, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick expressed optimism that Trump and “his legislative team will figure out the best way to do it.”
