U.S. Rep. Ann Wagner, R-Mo. 2 nd District, isn’t mincing words about the state of mail delivery.

Wagner told Missourinet that the new Postmaster General, David Steiner, met last week with Missouri and Illinois lawmakers and talked about mail service in the region. He also admitted to what Wagner called ‘embarrassing service failures,’ especially here in the heart of the country.

“Their outdated facilities were in terrible shape,” said Wagner. “Illogical networks with zero strategic planning, terrible truancy and staffing problems, a real culture problem when it came to their employees across the board.”

Wagner said for the last several years severe dysfunction has plagued service in the St. Louis area and Steiner said the postal service is looking at resolving severe delays.
