KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Prosecutors announced Tuesday morning that charges have finally been filed against two people in connection with an incident that left two people dead and three others injured near Kansas City’s downtown entertainment district over the summer.
Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson stated that Jaylynn Nelson and Kolton Schultz were charged with one count of fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Neither had been arrested, as of 10 a.m.
On Aug. 24 about 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a parking lot between T-Mobile Center and the Grand Apartments for a shots fired report.
One man died at the scene, and another died at the hospital three hours after he was shot. Three other victims (a man, a woman and a juvenile boy) were hospitalized.
