DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - A state audit questions what happened to more than $167,000 in state and federal grant money awarded to a contractor.
The State Auditor’s Office reviewed Crossroads Behavioral Health Services and its contracts with the state to provide behavioral health services in Madison, Adams, Union, Clarke, Taylor, Ringgold, and Decatur counties in Western Iowa. Those contracts included both state and federal funding.
According to the audit, Crossroads subcontracted with Zion Integrated Behavioral Health for some of the work. But in January 2024, Zion contacted the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services claiming Crossroads owed the nonprofit nearly $200,000. That prompted Iowa HHS to request a state audit.
