(CNN) - Monday marked the eighth consecutive day that the national average price for gasoline was up year over year.
It represents a big swing from earlier this year, when pump prices were at least 30 cents cheaper than the same time in 2024, but experts predict that cheaper prices may be on the way.
On Tuesday, according to AAA, the national average for regular gasoline stood at about $3.055 a gallon, slightly lower than at this time last year.
GasBuddy projects the average national price at the pump on Thanksgiving will drop to $3.02, which would tie the lowest Thanksgiving price since 2020.
