A North Jersey father with ties to Garfield and Ringwood died suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 23, leaving behind his wife and two young sons, according to a GoFundMe started for the family.

Michał Bieniek, 46, was remembered in his obituary on the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home website as an "eternal optimist with an infectious smile." He enjoyed outdoor adventures, grilling, and fishing. Michal and his family have deep ties to New Jersey's Polish-American community.

A campaign for Michal's wife, Monika, and sons, Kacper and Alexander, had raised more than $15,000 as of press time.

"His sudden passing has not only caused immense emotional pain but has also placed the family in a very difficult financial situation," organizer Ela Paduch writes.

"This fundraiser has been created to help Monika and the boys cover the funeral expenses and to provide financial support for upcoming essential needs and some stability during this incredibly hard time."

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave. in Ramsey. A funeral Mass will take place Saturday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church, 47 Island Road in Mahwah.
