HOMEWOOD, Ala. —
Video above: First round of severe storms crosses Alabama
First responders used ropes to rescue a driver who had crashed in Homewood on Tuesday morning.
The van left the road and went down an embankment on Columbiana Road and Broadway Street, according to the Homewood Fire Department.

Because of the steep incline, firefighters deployed rope rescue equipment to perform a low-angle rescue.
They were able to safely bring the patient up to the road for care.
The driver's condition was not released.
