LEEDS, Ala. —

Shoppers at the Shops of Grand River in Leeds gathered as early as 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, forming a line that wrapped around the corner in anticipation of Black Friday giveaways.

Each Black Friday, shoppers at the mall have the opportunity to win swag bags full of prizes. The first 500 shoppers in line received tickets for the swag bags, which included watches, jewelry, purses, and even the chance to get a kayak, with more than $20,000 worth of items given away.

One shopper, who started camping out at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving, said, "We were right off of the exit at the beginning where you would come in and we sat there on the side of the road."
