Police in Connecticut say they are investigating a murder-suicide that took place early Tuesday morning, Nov. 25.

Officials said the shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. at 751 Congress Avenue in New Haven.

Officers arrived to find a man and a woman dead and another woman seriously wounded, according to New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker. Police believe the man shot the women before turning the gun on himself.

Elicker told Fox 61 that police are "cautiously optimistic" that the hospitalized woman will survive.

Investigators did not release their relationship to one another or their names, as they are notifying their loved ones.

Few details were available Tuesday morning, but a new conference is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
