CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio is deeper than the boys basketball teams in the cleveland.com preseason Top 25 . Here are some teams to watch that could have breakout seasons:
Amherst
Coach Pat Bray’s Comets had their moments last season in the Southwestern Conference, upsetting two-time champion Elyria in February and pushing SWC runner-up Berea-Midpark in their second meeting. They also had a win against regional qualifier Olmsted Falls in the second half of the season. Amherst now brings back 6-0 sophomore guard Jack Coleman (15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists) from that team with junior guard Mason Lymer and 6-6 junior Gavin Beckler in the post.
Avon
Junior guard Joey Ziegler is back as the leading scorer at Avon (14-10), which looks to crash the Southwestern Conference part
