AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Community Resource Services is a bit more thankful this season, as the local Avon Lake American Legion Post 211 presented them with a check for $10,000.
Community Resource Services (CRS) is the designated emergency food pantry that serves Avon and Avon Lake.
This is the second year in a row that the local VFW has donated to the organization.
VFW Post 211 member Ken Karpy explained that the donation stemmed from funds the group raised through internal gaming at the post.
It is required that 25 percent of proceeds from such gaming go to an approved organization.
Karpy said he’s happy that it goes to CRS, a group he has known about and that has even helped his own family in years past.
