A Magnolia man died last week after he was shot earlier this month by a Magnolia police officer, according to a Tuesday news release from Arkansas State Police.

Michael Green, 53, succumbed to his wounds Nov. 19 at a Little Rock hospital, the release states. On Nov. 9, an officer patrolling on South Fredrick Road encountered Green, who brandished a gun and fired at the officer, the release states.

The officer, who authorities haven't named, shot Green multiple times, the release states.

Magnolia police asked state police detectives to investigate the shooting and submit a case file to the Columbia County prosecutor's office, who will determine whether or not the use of force was justified.
