Premier Tony Wakeham says development of the Upper Churchill and Gull Island are part of the provincial government’s plans to build the province’s revenue base.

“We will develop Churchill Falls and Gull Island” says Wakeham, “we will electrify Labrador, and we will always be ready to talk to anybody, anywhere, in order to get a deal done.” He says government will do its business transparently, accusing the previous Liberal government of “deliberately keeping far too much hidden from the people of our province.”

He says government officials are now drafting terms of reference for a new, independent review process, allowing questions to be asked and answered related to the MOU or any future agreement to replace it “and it will be specifically empowered to make its findings public.”
