Police are seeking charges against a man after a golfer was struck by pellet gunfire last week at a public golf course in Weston, Massachusetts, officials said Tuesday.

The golfer was hit, but not injured, about 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the Leo J. Martin Golf Course, police said. The pellet bounced off the side of his jacket.

Police initially didn't know who fired the projectile, but said Tuesday that the department had the day before filed an application for charges against Kenneth Bergin, a 46-year-old from Waltham, of disorderly conduct, discharging a BB gun across a public way and property damage.

It wasn't immediately clear if Bergin had an attorney who could speak to the application for charges.
