A third-party service provider used by the city of Melbourne to issue alerts and advisories has been compromised as a result of a cybersecurity incident, according to city officials.
CodeRED, the system they use, is cooperating in working to fix the issue.
City officials said the system sends out alerts related to water distribution services.
CodeRED is reporting that data was removed from their systems that could include users' names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and associated passwords used to create user profiles for alerts.
They have reported that at this time they do not know if the data has been published online, but that it could be leaked.
