ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A shooting in Downtown Roanoke in May 2025 was gang-related, according to court records obtained by WDBJ7.
Three men were injured in the May 3 shooting on Market Street SE, according to Roanoke Police.
The investigation led to a search warrant to investigate Thomas James Simmons, one of the three people who sustained gunshot wounds. Records from Roanoke City Circuit Court indicate Simmons is a gang member, and he was wanted on a probation violation, with a contributing factor of the violation being his involvement with the May shooting. Records indicated he was not cooperating with the shooting investigation.
The investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from an argument between several people from different gangs, according to the court documents.
