The Philadelphia Union’s first business of an earlier than expected offseason is to keep Indiana Vassilev around.

The Union signed the midfielder to a new deal on Tuesday, a contract that is guaranteed through 2028 with an option for 2029.

The 24-year-old midfielder was acquired from St. Louis City FC before the season for a package of up to $1.25 million in allocation money, $600,000 of which is to be sent to St. Louis in 2026. It includes $250,000 in performance-based metrics, many of which Vassilev has likely hit.

Vassilev’s base salary in the old deal was $350,000.
