On Monday, Edmonton Opera announced it was scrubbing the scheduled performance of Indians on Vacation , an opera based on the famous comedic novel from American-Canadian literary giant Thomas King.

That announcement came shortly after King made it public that he had been mistaken about his Indigenous heritage; he had no Cherokee ancestry, as he had claimed for decades.
