MINNEAPOLIS — A former Minneapolis charter school teacher and coach was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after pleading guilty in September to sexually assaulting children.
Aaron Hjermstad, 46, pleaded guilty to 12 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct that took place between 2013 and 2020, according to a release from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office. The victims were all under the age of 13, and many were children he coached or their relatives.
Hjermstad will have the possibility of parole after 30 years, but he must register as a predatory offender and he would be on lifetime conditional release if parole is ever granted.
