HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The National Weather Service has given preliminary ratings for two confirmed tornadoes that impacted Harris County Monday.

The first tornado, which has been rated an EF-1, touched down at 1:23 p.m. and was on the ground for 2.61 miles before lifting at 1:28 p.m. This tornado impacted the Riata Ranch subdivision in Cypress and had estimated peak winds of 110 mph.
The second tornado, which impacted areas in Klein, touched down at 1:41 p.m. It remained on the ground for 3.83 miles before lifting at 1:48 p.m. This tornado has been rated an EF-2 with estimated peak winds of 116 mph.
