INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - The trial for a man charged in connection with the shooting of a Lee’s Summit police officer is delayed until next year.

Thomas Tolbert is accused of shooting Jared Timbrook multiple times as Timbrook responded to a call on June 1. His trial was scheduled to begin December 1.

Tolbert was arrested outside Hays, Kansas , roughly 30 hours after the shooting.

Prosecutors charged Tolbert with a number of crimes including:

First-degree assault

Armed criminal action

Unlawful possession of a firearm

Resisting arrest

Second-Degree domestic assault
