HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The AD Lewis Community Center gymnasium was lined with boxes full of holiday staples: turkey, dressing, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, and rolls.

There were volunteers from groups such as Appalachian Power, Mayor Patrick Farrell’s office, along with other local leaders and Marshall University officials.

MaRia Hill is the director of the community center.

“This is the first year we’ve had this many volunteers, and it’s been phenomenal,” Hill said.

During preparation on Tuesday morning, Hill said all of the extra help they’ve received made the process go smoothly.

“Normally at this time we’re struggling to try and make sure everything is in the boxes and try to pack them up, but as you can see most of them are done already,” Hill said. “An
