HURRICANE, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Two city workers in Hurricane were checking a manhole on Virginia Avenue when the unthinkable happened.
What seemed like a typical day on the job ended with two workers getting attacked, sending one to the hospital.
Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards described what happened.
“A guy, a 26-year-old male walked up and just punched one of my guys in the face,” he said. “The other city worker, he went to his rescue, pulled him off of him, the guy punched him in the face and broke his nose in a couple places.”
Police arrested Ashton McAllister for attacking the workers and fleeing the scene, but everyone is still wondering why it happened.
