The Pennsylvania State Police, along with municipal police departments, will conduct DUI sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols as the holiday season kicks off with Thanksgiving.

While enforcement data show an uptick with drunken driving arrests during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, statistics generated from July 1, 2024, to June 30 show speeding, distracted driving, and deer in roadways are the top three major contributors of vehicle crashes in Luzerne County.
