LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The City of Lansing is issuing a Code Blue cold weather alert.

The City will activate it’s extreme Cold Weather plan beginning Wednesday, Nov. 26 and lasting until 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1.

The plan will be in effect each night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The plan allows local shelters to operate for additional hours and temporarily increase capacity. It also allows the Fire and Police Departments to transport those in need to local shelters.

The CATA bus system will also offer free rides to warming centers or shelters. Except on Thanksgiving, Nov. 27.

The Lansing Board of Water and Light will also not perform electric shut offs due to nonpayment during the Code Blue.
