The Oregon women’s basketball team continued its winning ways with a 71-53 win Tuesday over St. Mary’s at the Hoopfest Basketball Women’s Challenge in Frisco, Texas.
But the Ducks needed a hot-shooting fourth quarter to get the job done.
The Ducks and Gaels were tied 36-36 after three quarters. In the fourth, UO shot 75% from the field to win the quarter, 25-7.
Katie Fiso, Ari Long and Sofia Bell combined for 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the fourth. Oregon’s suffocating defense held St. Mary’s to 20% shooting in the quarter and forced five turnovers.
For the day, Fiso and Long both scored 15 points for the Ducks (7-0). Fiso added 10 assists.
Edie Clarke led the Gaels (5-2) with 14 points.
