Bodybuilding veteran Rich Gaspari’s training intensity hasn’t dropped off since retiring from the sport. On Nov. 25, 2025, an injury-free Gaspari crushed a leg workout and fired off a 50-rep set of Smith machine squats as a finisher.

Rich Gaspari was the first athlete to lay claim to the Arnold Classic title, a feat he accomplished back in 1989. Although he never won the Sandow trophy, he gave former eight-time Mr. Olympia Lee Haney some of his toughest battles.

He was known for his Saran Wrap conditioning , having pushed elite-level bodybuilders throughout his prime. Additionally, Gaspari pioneered striated glutes in competition, which has shaped the direction of the Men’s Open class since his time onstage.
