A Greater Cincinnati-area state Representative says he wants to get rid of newly approved rules that would allow high school athletes to profit off of their name, image and likeness.

"I think that we can all envision a scenario where a wealthy alumni, to shuffle NIL money toward certain recruits from certain schools, and they can be told to go to the school of that alumni's choice," Bird said.
One day after the Ohio High School Athletic Association voted to allow NIL deals at the high school level, Bird (R-New Richmond) says he plans to introduce the bill next week and lawmakers will discuss it when they get back in session next year.
