MANSFIELD, La. — DeSoto Parish Police Jury members last week adopted their proposed 2026 operating and capital budget amid sharp warnings about falling revenues, a projected multimillion-dollar drop in the parish’s general fund and questions about overspending across departments.
But even the vote on the proposed budget – which won’t be approved until next month following public review – drew raised voices and back and forth between jurors who were uncertain if the proper process was followed for the vote and if the budget itself had been scrutinized enough.
