CULLEN, La. — The Cullen Board of Aldermen approved a restraining order Monday night against Cullen resident and attorney Fran Gipson after officials said repeated disruptions were preventing them from conducting town business.
Board members said the move was necessary to restore order during meetings.
Gipson has been a vocal critic of Mayor Terry Hoof and town operations during board meetings. Last month, she spoke about the town's ongoing financial problems and legislative auditor's investigation.
She continued her remarks despite Hoof's attempts to stop her and gain control of the meeting. At one point she told Hoof, "You need to hush your mouth while I'm speaking."
