LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro leaders say contractors cleaning the UPS plane crash site are ahead of schedule, allowing the first group of businesses to reopen Wednesday.

Businesses in “Phase One” of the impacted area will be allowed to return starting Wednesday. Grade Lane between Don Hudson Boulevard south to the Outer Loop will open to businesses and customers.

Metro leaders say they have made significant progress in the last week. Business owners on the other side of Grade Lane, Melton and Knopp Avenues will have to wait longer as crews continue to clean up and repair damaged power and gas lines.
