PLYMOUTH — In 2024, the weekend of Thanksgiving saw the highest number of alcohol-related crashes out of any other holiday, according to statistics compiled by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
It’s fitting then that the Wyoming Valley Drug & Alcohol Services (WVDA) kicked off its annual S.O.B.E.R Campaign on Tuesday outside of the Wyoming Valley West High School.
The program’s title stands for ‘Slow on the Bottle, Enjoy the Road,’ and aims to spread public awareness of the hazards of drinking and distracted driving with the goal of ultimately reducing the number of alcohol-related crashes during the holiday season.
