Louisville Metro Police released the names of the two officers that shot and killed a suspect in a reported armed robbery in a Nov. 25 news release.

Officers Patrick Norton and Richard Waller both fired their weapons while responding to the incident in the 100 block of East Southland Boulevard around 9:55 p.m. Nov. 22.

"Officers made contact with the suspect, who started to flee, while at the same time producing a handgun," LMPD Deputy Chief Ryan Bates said in a statement to reporters after the shooting. "Two LMPD officers subsequently discharged their firearms, striking the suspect. The suspect was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS."

Waller, an officer hired in November 2022 and currently assigned to LMPD's Fourth Division, has no disciplinary history, according to records releas
